In the morning, Jonathan Rea set the pace. The Kawasaki rider took the lead in the first 11 minutes and kept his position throughout the session. Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) surprised with the second fastest time, just 0.032s behind, followed by Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati) in third, 0.342s off the pace. Bautista finished eighth being over a second slower than the leader.

However, the Spaniard bounced back in FP2. Rea was the first to hold onto the lead for a longer period, but with about half an hour left, he was passed by the factory Ducati riders: first by Michael Ruben Rinaldi and then by Bautista, who set the best time of the day (1m49.649s). The reigning champion edged out Rinaldi by 0.077s.

Rea slipped to fourth as Petrucci secured the third best time. Lecuona continued to impress with the fifth fastest time, raising expectations for his performance in this round.

Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) led the way for BMW in sixth place, ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha). Only three riders did not improve their lap times from FP1 to FP2: Lecuona, Xavi Vierge (Team HRC), and Bradley Ray (Yamaha Motoxracing).
