After the first flying laps, Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda) held the lead, only to be overtaken by Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda). Bertelle, in turn, was beaten by Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM). The Brazilian then swapped the top spot with Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) before Masiá set a time that put him in the lead for nearly a quarter of an hour.

The Spanish rider was overtaken by Holgado before responding with a new Moto3 record lap in Mandalika: 1m38.781s. Holgado couldn’t improve and was 0.121s behind. Bertelle finished third, with Moreira in fourth and José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in fifth.
