After being the fastest on Friday, Jaume Masiá secured pole position at the Moto3 San Marino GP this Saturday. The Spanish rider once again demonstrated his speed in Misano, outpacing his rivals with his final qualifying lap.

As soon as Q2 began, Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) crashed, but he fortunately suffered no major consequences. Once the initial flying laps were completed, Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda) was in the lead, with David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) in second and Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) in third.

The timesheet changed considerably when Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) took the lead, 0.115s ahead of Masiá. Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) moved into third place after his first flying lap had been canceled.

As usual, midway through the session, the riders returned to the pits to prepare for their final time attacks in the last few minutes. As he returned to the track, Kaito Toba (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) took the lead.

However, he was soon overtaken by his fellow countryman Sasaki, who had recovered from his early crash. But then Masiá surged to the top, being 0.243s faster. No one could beat the Spanish rider in the end, who secured the pole position ahead of Sasaki and Toba. Holgado, the championship leader, will start from eighth place.
