If the only thing that put you off the Maeving RM1 was its modest top speed of 72 km/h, you might be interested in this new RM1S version. This version has a new engine that puts out 14.1 hp compared to just 5.9 hp in the Maeving RM1.

The extra power has a dramatic effect on performance – the RM1S tops out at 104.6 km/h instead of 72 km/h, making it a much more versatile machine than before. However, the range remains unchanged at 128.7 km, as Maeving has equipped the bike with 30% larger batteries.

It is possible to use the bike with just one of the two packs, which – unsurprisingly – reduces the range to a decent 64.3km. The batteries can be charged on site or removed from the bike to be charged elsewhere with the optional battery base. It takes 3.5 hours to charge both packs simultaneously, from 0% to 80%, or 4.5 hours to reach 100%.

Maeving says it built the RM1S in response to feedback from customers who want more power and speed. We can’t imagine that many have had anything bad to say about the appearance, so it has remained virtually unchanged. This means a long wheelbase, radius rims and a large bobber-style seat.

However, if you look closely, you may have noticed that the central battery housings are a little larger and that there is also a more robust front brake – a 300 mm disc clamped by a three-piston caliper. Maeving has also launched four new special edition colors to accompany the bike.
