Yesterday’s there was the confirmation about Marc Marquez’s future split with Honda and it wasn’t exactly a surprise, even if it was very impactful. Ricard Jove spoke about the rider’s future and how important it is now to understand how he will be accompanied in the new project, while also clarifying that it is crucial to know who will accompany the spaniard in this transition, which everything suggests will be to Gresini Racing.

The spaniard began by recalling to DAZN on Twitch the moment when he was informed that Marquez and Honda had decided to end their contract, but admitted that he wasn’t surprised: ‘I was caught eating, they phoned me and I hadn’t even heard about it. Given what’s happened in the last ten days, I don’t think many people can be taken by surprise. We all agree that this is the chronicle of a death foretold’.

With a new project for 2024 and Marquez having been a cornerstone of Honda’s development over the last few years, it’s now time to understand what Honda’s plan will be from now on, and beyond: ‘From this moment on, some very interesting questions arise to understand what the new project is. And also what Honda’s project is going to be like, which is interesting to know […] What are they going to do with this bike? Which technical team is going to manage this bike? It’s obvious that in the event, which I don’t believe, that they have new people there because they can’t close the deal, the rider will have to adapt to the technicians and vice versa’.

It now remains to be seen whether the #93 will also be accompanied by some of those who have been with him in recent years, and this could have an influence, believes Jove, who believes that the spanish star should be accompanied by many of those who have lived with him in the Honda garage:

– If Marc can take his whole team with him, in that sense it’s very different. And sometimes the relationship between technicians and drivers has to be worked on, they have to understand each other. For me, it’s very important that he can take most, if not all, of the team that has surrounded him in recent years. Because even if they don’t know Ducati like they know Honda, they have Ducati technicians who are under contract. One of the questions will be who Marc Márquez will be racing with in this new project.
