The lap record in the Moto2 World Championship at Mandalika continues to fall. Arón Canet set the pace in the third practice session for the Indonesian GP this morning, improving the record that had been broken yesterday. All riders improved compared to Friday.

After most of the riders had completed at least one flying lap, Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) was in the lead. However, he was then overtaken by Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex), who spent the most time at the front: for nearly 20 minutes, starting from the ten-minute mark.

It was Canet who beat the championship leader with a sequence of two fast laps in the final moments. The Pons Wegow Los40 rider ended with a lap time of 1m33.847s, setting a new record. Fermín Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) came close, just 0.095s behind, with Acosta in third. Manuel González (Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Cap/Kalex) finished fourth, while Chantra completed the top five.

In 14th place, Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) secured the last direct spot in the second qualifying, leaving Alonso López (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) in the Q1 by 0.007s. Among the other riders who will have to go through the first phase of qualifying is the championship’s third-placed rider, Jake Dixon (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex).
