Owner of the eighth position, Miller had a novelty on his bike, related to the configurations he tried, which worked well, as the team’s Team Manager said:

– Jack started with a completely new setting. We said ‘we have nothing to lose’ and we went for it and after a few laps he was comfortable and started pushing. He recovered and just missed out on maybe two more positions if he knew it was the last lap! He has his feeling back, which is good.

He will have the operations as soon as possible and will certainly have to miss the GP of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera‘.

The italian will then miss another round, after the chaotic start of the season in Portugal where he missed some races also due to injury.

Jorge Martín grabbed the podium at the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix by finishing in third place. However, the Prima Pramac rider dealt with a less competitive Ducati than expected during the race, having no chances to compete with the two Aprilia that finished ahead of him.

In an interview with DAZN, the Spanish rider admitted that the Desmosedici GP23 didn’t perform as expected: ‘In other years, we were stronger, but not this year. It was the first time in years that the Ducati didn’t turn, we started having problems, or the others improved a lot. But to be five seconds slower than even our pole position lap times, I think it’s excessive’.

Despite the surprisingly underwhelming performance, Martín emphasized that nothing will change for the next round: ‘The track is not in a condition to take any drastic measures, so we will continue with the same plan, and surely everything will return to normal in Misano’.

The #41 expressed his pride in the post-race press conference, both for the historic moment and the collective work within Aprilia:

I’m very happy also for Aprilia. I think it’s a very historical moment. I’m very, very proud of Aprilia, because we came from far, far away. And Aprilia has to be very proud of Maverick and myself because together we did an amazing and historical job. It’s not easy to have a good relation with your teammate when you are fighting for top positions and to develop the bike to fight against your rivals. So, I’m very happy. Congratulations to Aprilia.

Guidotti analysed the day as follow: ‘A dramatic day and the most important thing is that nobody was seriously injured. Brad’s bike was damaged and we had to move to the spare bike that suffered a problem that we still need to analyse. A tough situation and a shame because Brad had a good feeling’.

The italian also looked at the current team situation, alongside with Binder: ‘We are still growing and improving. He was in a good mood because of his competitiveness, even with the hard tire as we did not have a medium back-up option. Anyway, the general picture is positive and our confidence remains high for Misano’.

Augusto Fernández returned to the top ten results with a ninth-place finish at the MotoGP Catalan GP. The rookie secured his position on the last lap with a overtake on Fabio DiGiannantonio (Gresini/Ducati).

The Spanish rider from GasGas Tech3 believes it was a positive performance and that he could have achieved even more: ‘It was a hard race, but I’m happy with the pace, I’m happy with how I felt on the bike and with how I managed the tyres as well. I felt that I was a little bit faster than the group in front where Jack was. But one thing is to be faster, another thing is to overtake them. I managed to overtake DiGia to take this ninth position, but as I said I missed something to pass the rest of the guys’.

In an overall assessment, Fernández said that his race pace was good, but he needs to start the GP in a better way: ‘Once again we take out not a bad pace on Sunday; we need to start the weekends in a better way to try to hope for better positions on Sunday, because we always have a good pace. But I’m happy with how I felt on the bike and in the race. So, it was a positive race’.

Brad Binder had an unfortunate moment in yesterday’s first MotoGP race as he hit Francesco Bagnaia and the KTM rider was pleased he didn’t cause any serious problem for his opponent, saying it is the ‘worst nightmare’.

After saying he got to visit the italian, he recalled the start of the race and then how he had seen a piece of the #1’s bike to get… on his own RC16: ‘When the race restarted I didn’t have another hard tyre, so I had to put a Q on the front. The start wasn’t bad, I tried to get up to temperature and then I had a technical problem, because I think a piece of Pecco’s bike got stuck in my intercooler before it hit him. I went to check on Pecco and he seemed fine. The best thing about today [this sunday] is that I didn’t hurt anyone. At least not seriously’.

He then got to be on the restart of the race, explaining what is the most complicated part: ‘The trickiest part is to just get back on and carry on. The good thing is I saw him move, and I knew I’d just clipped his leg. Or legs. I don’t quite know. But I knew I got over enough to make sure at least I never hit him square’.

Finally, Binder was relieved he didn’t cause anything too serious: ‘But at the end of the day it’s every rider’s worst nightmare – to see someone there is scary, but to be the one who hits them is even more s**t, to be honest’.

And ended with a thought, and a funny view on the italian when he first saw him: ‘I’m just really glad that, ok, I don’t know if he’s ok-ok, but he’s fine, you know what I mean? I went to see him at the medical centre, and he seemed 100%, I just don’t know if he maybe has something with his leg or legs. Honestly, when I walked in there, I wasn’t expecting to see him chilling. I must be quite honest. And he seemed ok’.
