Jack Miller finished the first day of practice in 18th position, just behind Miguel Oliveira. The Austrailian rider is coming off a series of less positive results and hopes to improve his performance for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing this weekend.

The Austrailian rider spoke about today and his expectations for the rest of the weekend: ‘ We started the day very well, the last lap in the first session was canceled which was a shame because I would have been in 2nd position. In terms of electronics, braking and tires, we’re still not very good, I wasn’t able to drive in the best way. We have a lot to improve for tomorrow, we’ll see.

Commenting on the new Indian circuit, Jack Miller added: ‘It’s not just the braking that makes the difference on this circuit but the transitions are very, very important, it’s one of those circuits that is very difficult and technical, although it’s a lot of fun. All the corners are very technical, it reminds me of Mugello or Sachsenring, in the first few laps I braked stupidly earlier than I should because visually you can’t quite understand the references in each corner, so we’re all (the riders) a bit lost trying to figure out the best references for braking’.

Jack Miller was confronted with a surprise during the Moto3 session that left the Australian rider impressed.

– ‘ I was watching the Moto3 practice session when out of nowhere a monkey appeared in my pit, at first I thought it was a dog, but it was a really big monkey and I shouted to my pit crew “there’s a monkey!”. I threw some bananas at the monkey and I don’t think he’s come back yet.
