Jake Dixon secured his second pole position of the season in the Moto2 World Championship on Saturday, weeks after his previous pole in Catalonia. The Q2 session at the Buddh International Circuit saw the track conditions steadily improve after the rain stopped.

Just as in Q1, Sergio García (Pons Wegow Los40/Kalex) was the first leader in Q2, with Barry Baltus (Fieten Olie Racing GP/Kalex) in second and Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) in third.

Positions shuffled with the second flying laps, and Zonta van den Goorbergh (Fieten Olie Racing GP/Kalex) overtook García. Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) moved up to third.

With less than seven minutes remaining, García passed van den Goorbergh, while Arbolino moved into third place, only to be surpassed by Binder and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex).

Now, the Spanish rider was leading, but he was later overtaken by Dixon (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex). García briefly returned to the front but was quickly displaced by Acosta and Dixon, who were the fastest with two minutes to go.

In the final laps, it was Dixon who came out on top, being 32 thousandths of a second faster than Acosta, who couldn’t improve. García was relegated to third place. Van den Goorbergh will start fourth, with Binder and Alonso López (GT Trevisan SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) alongside him on the second row of the grid.
