Takumi Takahashi will not be able to participate in the MotoGP San Marino GP. The Japanese rider was called in to replace the injured Álex Rins at LCR Honda but failed to meet the 105 percent time limit of the fastest lap in both practice sessions yesterday.
Although he achieved it in this morning’s FP2 session, he was no longer allowed to continue in Misano. He didn’t even participate in this morning’s qualifying session.
This situation is unusual. Takahashi, 33 years old, has a career focused on modified production sports bikes in various championships. He had only participated in MotoGP once before, as a wildcard entry at the 2015 Japanese GP.
