Honda’s performance at Misano was nothing short of a disaster, both on and off the track. The team seems to be struggling to find solutions to their ongoing issues. Several Honda riders had previously expressed optimism about this track, suggesting it might be favorable for them. However, their hopes were dashed as the four bikes managed to secure a mere four points combined.

This optimism was primarily rooted in the belief that the Japanese rider’s recent tests on this track would yield positive results. It’s generally assumed that if a test rider has raced on a particular track and trained multiple times, they should at least score some points during the actual race. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for Stefan Bradl, who finished in the sixteenth position.

Comparing lap times, it’s evident that Honda is in a tight spot. Test riders from Ducati and KTM have managed to lead sessions, indicating potential bigger issues for the Japanese brand.

Honda’s challenges are mounting, prompting speculation about various changes for 2024. One of the most significant rumors circulating is the potential departure of team leader, Marc Márquez. Despite having an active contract with Honda, many believe Márquez might join Gresini Racing next year. Additionally, there’s speculation about Joan Mir’s exit, as he continues to face challenges with his bike.

In the past, the eight-time world champion was clear about seeking alternative options if Honda failed to provide solutions. With the current state of affairs, there’s growing concern about the future of Honda’s relationship with the championship. Such a departure would not only impact the Japanese brand but also have significant implications for DORNA. Losing another Japanese brand and having a championship dominated by European brands wouldn’t be ideal.

Currently, Honda sits at the bottom of the manufacturer’s standings with a total of 96 points. This precarious position could lead to irreversible issues in MotoGP.
