Racing with BMW, the Portuguese rider added another 25 points to his tally after winning Race 1. He didn’t even need to crunch the numbers to confirm his championship win, as he managed to outpace his competitors with two more rounds still to go in the championship, in addition to Sunday’s race.

Throughout the race, Lopes showcased his dominance, leading from nearly start to finish. Only in the closing laps did he face stiff competition from Román Ramos. However, Ramos couldn’t fend off the relentless Lopes, who eventually clinched the win with a narrow margin of just 0.138 seconds.

With a total of 208 points, Lopes has mathematically secured the championship in the category. This victory marks a successful title defense, as he had previously won the championship in 2021. His consistent performance and prowess on the BMW have not gone unnoticed. Lopes has already been approached to make his debut in the World Superbikes Championship, indicating a promising future for the talented rider.
