“Something electricfying”, says Ronnie Renner at the opening of a video posted on his social media accounts, in which he appears riding a bike he’s never seen before: a CFMOTO electric motocross bike. Ronnie is a former freestyler known for his records and his career in motocross and, at least at the moment, he is the first to give us direct news of an electric motocross bike made by the Chinese manufacturer

No data, just dynamic images that suggest future technical – and we believe market – information about the new CFMOTO. What we do know for sure is that the bike was created in conjunction with the Chinese manufacturer’s American research and development department, which usually handles the CFMOTO quad bikes, which are bestsellers and are obviously used mainly off-road.

The layout of the bike appears to be conventional: from the photo taken from the video and which you can see at the beginning, it’s clear that the intention was to concentrate the masses where we normally find the internal combustion engine, while we don’t see the rear brake pedal on the prototype, which – but this is all to be confirmed – should be operated by the lever to the left of the handlebar (unlike the Honda CR Electric intended for competition, which retains the rear brake pedal), and the pedal to the left is also absent, attesting to the absence of a gearbox. It’s hard to be precise, but we can’t make out a radiator, so we assume there’s no liquid cooling for the batteries or the engine.

What can we expect? We don’t know if the CFMOTO electric off-road bike will be presented at EICMA, but we’re willing to bet that we’ll be hearing about it soon, initially in the USA, but certainly with rapid developments in Europe too.
