Good conditions, straights and intense braking zones. That’s how Jack Miller sees the track that will host the next round of the MotoGP World Championship in India, although he says he has yet to visit the track himself. His first impressions are positive, and his desire is to get a good result right away in order to get off to a good start at this stage of the season in Asia.

Previewing the round, the KTM rider spoke to journalists at the circuit: ‘I’m here in India for the first time. I haven’t been to the track yet, we’ll go today in the afternoon to have a look but everything looks good. I’m looking forward to getting out on the track and racing’.

Asked about his preparation for an unfamiliar track, and whether he used a simulator, the australian said: ‘I haven’t had a chance yet, I’ll have a look later and that’s it. I don’t play video games. I don’t sit around making videos and all that stuff, it’s not my habit’.

Miller then spoke about the weather forecast and his first impression of the track when he saw some images: ‘The conditions? They’re good. A bit of sun in the middle of summer? I’m not complaining. Especially if they’re forecasting 42ºC on sunday, so I don’t have to worry about water on the track and it’ll be less stressful. They showed us a track overview on a drone the other week at the Safety Commission and, from the outside and from my point of view, it looks good. It’s great that there’s another track and I can’t wait to get started. I’ll go for a walk so I don’t get lost tomorrow. The facilities here are amazing.

And he believes that, given the shape of the track and the characteristics of the KTM, a good result could be on the cards: ‘There are a lot of straights and tight corners and I feel it’s a track I should do well on. Our bike works well under heavy braking and has good top speed. I hope we have a good weekend and we can take advantage of what we learnt at the test and start this round of the championship with a good result’.
