The motorcycling community in Britain is mourning the loss of Jamie Kelman, a 37-year-old rider who competed in national races and road races such as the Olivers Mount Gold Cup and the Southern 100. Jamie Kelman tragically passed away on October 5th due to severe injuries sustained from a serious accident during a race at Brands Hatch on September 30th.

The news of his passing was communicated by Kelman’s family through a message shared on their social media platforms. The message read: “After some good races at the last Bemsee (British Motor Cycle Racing Club) meet at Brands Hatch, unfortunately, Jamie was involved in a race accident and after a tough fight, he passed away on Thursday night. Nothing he loved more than racing on two wheels (and winning) and being with his racing family. Thank you all for the love and support you’ve already given our family. We will share details for his final ride when it’s organized.”

The British Motor Cycle Racing Club, where Kelman was a member, also released a statement shortly after the family’s announcement. The club stated: “With great sadness, the club reports the loss of our member Jamie Kelman. He suffered a severe injury during the second YPM race on Saturday, September 30th at Brands. He was attended to by the Bemsee medical team and was airlifted to King’s Hospital. After a strong fight, he sadly succumbed to his injuries on October 5th. Jamie had been a long-standing member of the club since 2017 and began his racing career in the Green Senior series.”

“He moved on to the MRO 600s for a while, and more recently competed in Thunderbike Sport and Yamaha Past Masters. He was also a regular in road races in the UK. He will be greatly missed as a very popular member of the Paddock; his youthful appearance hid his actual age, just 37 years. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his girlfriend Sara, his friends, and family during this challenging time,” the statement concluded.

Kelman had several trophies and national titles to his name. In 2018, he clinched the Team Green Senior 300 championship riding a Kawasaki Ninja and subsequently achieved various successes in road races like Oliver’s Mount. He last competed in July, riding his Kramer 690.

Motorcycle Sports extends its condolences to Jamie Kelman’s family and friends.
