Fermín Aldeguer continues to make strides in Moto2 and show why many regard him as one of the emerging stars in motorcycling, and proof of his talent was on display once again today at Phillip Island, where he secured pole position.

At the end of the first lap of the session, Pedro Acosta was the fastest on the track, 0.046s ahead of Arón Canet.

On the following lap, the third, Joe Roberts beat Darryn Binder to third place in the session, on the same lap that Acosta again improved his time, now to 1:32.633s.

With six minutes to go, Roberts showed that he wasn’t coming “just” to be among the best, but to be the best, and so he moved into first, but… for a short time: Fermín Aldeguer was the next to lead the session, with Canet taking second place and Alonso López rising to third.

Towards the end, Sam Lowes crashed in turn 4, but without seriousness.

The session ended shortly afterwards with Aldeguer confirming pole position on Australian soil.

The four riders who will compete in the second qualifying of the Moto2 Indonesian Grand Prix, coming from Q1, have been determined. Jake Dixon was the fastest in this session.

After the initial timed laps, Alex Escrig (Forward Team) led the standings, with Ai Ogura (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex), Izan Guevara (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex), and Taiga Hada (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team/Kalex) also in qualifying positions.

Hada improved to take the lead, ahead of Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex). Escrig dropped to third, while Roy Skinner (OnlyFans American Racing/Kalex) moved into fourth.

This situation didn’t last long, as Dixon (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex) took the top spot, with Ogura close behind. Bo Bendsneyder (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team/Kalex) and Jeremy Alcoba (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) also entered the top four.

Later, Alonso López (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) and Ogura improved to reach the positions that mattered most. However, the Japanese rider couldn’t hold on to his place, as he was overtaken by Alcoba and Bendsneyder in the final moments.

No one could beat Dixon, as he finished 0.202s ahead of López. Alcoba and Bendsneyder also advanced to the Q2, with Ogura missing qualification by 47 thousandths of a second in fifth place.

Alonso López was the fastest rider in the first qualifying for the Moto2 Japanese GP. The rider led the quartet of last qualifiers for the Q2 session in Motegi with a 0.205S advantage.

López (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) was the initial leader, despite a hiccup when his bike stalled at the end of the pit lane. Bo Bendsneyder (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team/Kalex), Zonta van den Goorbergh (Fieten Oil Racing GP/Kalex), and Izan Guevara (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex) also secured qualifying positions.

With six minutes to go, there were significant changes, with Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) taking the lead ahead of van den Goorbergh, while Jake Dixon (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex) was third and Bendsneyder fourth. Guevara was out of the qualification zone.

Several changes occurred in the final two minutes. López returned to the top, with Binder in second, van den Goorbergh in third, and Dixon in fourth. Bendsneyder lost a position to Albert Arenas (Red Bull KTM Ajo), who moved up to fifth, 0.196s behind the top four.

In the closing laps, nothing changed, and López, Binder, van den Goorbergh, and Dixon secured their spots in the Q2 session. Guevara climbed to fifth place but fell short of advancing by 0.118s.
